Heart Meditation

Experience the healing power of meditation for health and wellbeing of heart and mind

Meditation guidance in Lovingkindness, Mindfulness and Relaxation.

Welcome to Heart Meditation

Life can bring us great joy and happiness. However, life also brings suffering, stress, and various mental and physical health issues. Through meditation we can learn to relax deeply and develop lovingkindness and mindfulness. This allows us to access inner sources of wellbeing. With patience, meditation can anchor us in the precious space of the heart. Here we are naturally at peace, connected and open to the unfoldment of life.

Meditation has a calming and relaxing effect on the body and mind. In meditation we are nurturing kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity. We contribute to the happiness of ourselves and others. Through meditation we learn to observe our experience directly, freeing ourselves from unhelpful stories about life. We feel more present and alive.

Why meditate?

The fact that meditation can have a profoundly positive effect on our health and wellbeing has been backed up by decades of scientific research. A regular meditation practice has been shown to reduce stress, blood pressure, anxiety and insomnia; it can improve cognitive functioning, mental health and it can lead to increased creativity. The value of meditation has been recognized by the NHS and the British Heart Foundation. Meditation has found its way into the world of work because of its benefits in the areas of leadership, team work, resilience, performance and job satisfaction.

And of course, meditation has a very long history as a sacred practice in many spiritual traditions. As such, it has been a great boon for countless meditators through the ages, and it still is. However, in order to benefit from meditation it is not necessary to pledge allegiance to any of those traditions, or even be a "spiritual" person.

About Me

I was first introduced to mantra meditation in the early seventies along with my mother. Many years later, I learned Buddhist meditation in Amsterdam. In 2003 I went to the UK to join a Buddhist community. I worked as a salesman for a Buddhist wholesale company in giftware. I lived in Buddhist retreat centres where I was the cook and eventually started to teach meditation. Until I had a heart attack. Without the loving-kindness of others I would not have recovered. I realized I could help others improve their health and wellbeing with heart-based meditation. And this is what I’d like to share with you.
